When someone we love dies, we grieve. But how we grieve? That’s a different story. Some of us cry easily. Others throw themselves into action. Some search for meaning. Others go quiet. How We Process Grief, and Why It Looks So Different for Everyone

When someone we love dies, we grieve. But how we grieve? That’s a different story. Some of us cry easily. Others throw themselves into action. Some search for meaning. Others go quiet.

Understanding these differences isn’t just helpful. It’s essential. It can ease self-doubt, reduce conflict, and strengthen the way families show up for one another after a loss.

At Restfully, we believe that better support begins with better understanding. That’s why all of our grief resources are grounded in research, not just sentiment. Our Grief Persona framework introduces 4 processing styles: The Open Heart, The Steady Hand, The Seeker, and The Quiet Anchor.

For more information, review the white paper Understanding Grief Processing Styles: A Framework of Grief Personas.

Jennifer and I have both lost a parent and know the complexities that come with that. We’re both more action-oriented, planning types but we had a front row seat to people we loved navigating loss completely differently. When we thought about putting together a resource like Restfully, we wanted to start with science and research. We did a deep dive on how different people process and compiled this white paper to bridge the academic research with our own experiences. – Sarah
